Phyllis K Twombly, author of Martian Divides...

...grew up reading and watching science fiction. Favorites still include Dr. Who and Star Trek.

Early on she combined her love of sci-fi with her talent for writing. Her first short story was written in grade one. She was always writing stories but pursued a 'serious' career, ultimately without success. The disappointment led to a more aggressive approach towards being in print and the deliberate choice to start with being self-published.

She's the author of the Martian Symbiont series with three titles to date. (Been Blued in 2007, Martian Blues, 2008 and Martian Divides, 2009.) She's currently writing her first screenplay.

Other interests include spending time with her dog, Liberty. She plays flute and saxophone--the author, not the dog.

Recently Twombly took on the Tom/Phyllis/Leslie role in the play Sylvia by A.R. Gurney for Community Theater.

Her ongoing curiosity often leads to unexpected creations such as Space Dog in Minding the Mannequins, a promotional book video:

After completing a basic film course Twombly created this spoof of Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. There are allusions to six other science fiction works:
